Why do so many people love camping?

Camping has been a part of the holiday culture in Denmark for nearly 100 years – and with good reason.
Camping is freedom, community, and presence – time is your own, and there are no big demands or expectations. That’s why many choose to go camping again and again.

Camping in Denmark began in the 1920s and has only grown since. From primitive tent sites, it has evolved into modern holiday spots with cabins, high-quality shower and toilet facilities, and everything from playgrounds to moon cars, petting animals, mini golf and swimming pools.
Do you prefer simpler campsites with nature as the main attraction? Don’t worry - you’ll still find plenty of those too.

Most campsites are located on the mainland (Jutland) – especially near the coast, lakes, and scenic nature areas – but you’ll also find wonderful sites on Zealand, Funen and other Danish islands. No matter where you go in Denmark, there’s always a campsite nearby with wide open skies and peace for the soul.
