Two Environmental Certifications You May Come Across at Campsites
At Danish campsites, you may come across certifications such as EU Ecolabel and Green Camping.
Both of the labels set specific requirements that a campsite must meet in order to obtain and retain the certification. These requirements may cover areas such as energy, water, waste, daily operations and documentation.

EU Ecolabel
EU Ecolabel – also known as the EU Flower – is the European Union’s official environmental label.
To receive the label, a campsite must meet a range of specific requirements covering areas such as energy, water, waste and day-to-day operations.
The campsite must be able to document its work, and an independent third party checks that the requirements are met.
For you as a guest, the label makes it easier to see that the campsite works according to fixed and documented environmental criteria.
Green Camping
Green Camping is an environmental label developed by HORESTA for campsites in Denmark that work actively with environmental considerations.
Campsites with the Green Camping label must meet a range of specific requirements, provide documentation and undergo independent third-party assessment. The scheme focuses on integrating environmental considerations into campsite operations and the camping experience.
For you as a guest, Green Camping makes it easier to see that the campsite works systematically with environmental considerations and is assessed according to fixed criteria.
