When you arrive at Svendborg Sund Camping, you quickly feel that this is a place with presence. Campsite manager Maria Da Silva has managed the campsite since 1999. She’s an active part of everyday life here – you’ll meet her in the reception/shop, and she regularly walks the campsite, always ready for a quick chat or a helpful tip for your holiday. 
The campsite is located at Vindebyøre, close to Svendborg – directly by the beautiful Svendborg Sund, offering a fantastic view. The pace is relaxed, and there are cosy corners for you to unwind – whether it’s in the shared house “Stråhatten”, on the beach, or by the small campfire area near the water. 

Camping in Svendborg with sea views, beach, and a real holiday atmosphere 

Svendborg Sund Camping is for those who want to stay close to the water while having Svendborg and South Funen within easy reach. The site borders a lovely, child-friendly beach, and by the shore, you’ll also find a cosy campfire spot – a great place to spend the evening and often enjoy the sunset over the sound. 
A unique experience is when the historic ship M/S Helge docks at Vindebyøre. From here, you can sail through the Svendborg Sund and explore the area from the water, with stops that may include Valdemars Castle, the old skipper town of Troense, the island of Thurø, and Svendborg itself. 
If you enjoy hiking, it’s worth noting that the Øhavsstien hiking trail runs directly through the campsite. This makes it easy to use the site as your base – whether for a short walk nearby or longer hikes. Maria is happy to suggest good routes in the area.

  • Cycling trips on South Funen and Tåsinge – bikes can be rented from Maria at the site 

  • Hiking tours with the Øhavsstien trail starting or ending right by your holiday address 

  • Fishing: Funen is known for its sea trout fishing. Try your luck from the jetty in front of the site or with waders. You may also catch flounder

  • Svendborg town is just a short distance away and offers cafés, harbour atmosphere, and small excursions if you want to combine nature with a touch of city life

Maria runs a small reception/shop with a selection of essentials, and you can pre-order fresh bread for the morning. Maria collects the bread from the local bakery, so you can start your day slowly and peacefully. 
In the reception, you’ll also find brochures with recommendations for attractions in the South Funen region – helpful if you want inspiration for your holiday.

Stråhatten – shared house with a view

Stråhatten is the site’s shared house, available to guests during the high season. It features a kitchen, TV, and billiards – and offers direct views of Svendborg Sund. Outside the high season, Stråhatten can also be rented for events such as confirmations, birthdays, or weddings (with tables, chairs, and service for up to 60 guests). 

Holiday options: from tents to glamping 

Whether you arrive in a tent, caravan, or motorhome, the site offers good options – and many guests choose Svendborg Sund Camping for its unique location by the water. 
If you’d like a bit more comfort, you can rent cabins (small or large) or try glamping in Lotus Belle tents with a beautiful view of Svendborg Sund. The tents include comfortable beds, rugs, a fridge, armchairs, and a small terrace. 

Children, dogs, and cosy moments on site 

The site features a playground and jumping pillow, and if you’re travelling with children, there’s also a mini-zoo with rabbits and birds. During high season, there’s musical entertainment and barbecue evenings, and if you visit on Whitsun Saturday, you can even learn to dance salsa. 
Travelling with a dog? You’re very welcome – there’s a large dog enclosure right next to the site, where your dog can run freely and play with other dogs.
