Imagine your holiday already beginning as you drive onto the ferry. There is no need to book a specific departure, no stress and no long crossings. Simply drive to the ferry in Snaptun, with departures approximately every 20 minutes. The crossing takes only about five minutes and before you know it, you are on your way away from everyday life. Already on the ferry, a sense of calm settles in – you can feel your shoulders drop and a smile appear. That is how your stay at Hjarnø Camping begins.

A campsite in the middle of an island – close to the mainland, far from everyday life

Hjarnø Camping is located on the small island of Hjarnø in Horsens Fjord. The island is modest in size, yet rich in experiences and space for relaxation. Here you are welcomed by open fields, water on both sides, birdlife and a very special, relaxing island atmosphere.

The campsite is just over one kilometre from the ferry berth, which you can reach on foot, by bike or by car. The route takes you past small houses, beaches, the little church (Denmark’s second smallest) and the characteristic island landscape. From the very first moment it is clear that Hjarnø is a place where you slow down – where your holiday is not about seeing as much as possible, but about being present.

A campsite focused on tranquillity, quality, community and nature

Hjarnø Camping is not a campsite with fixed programmes and busy daily schedules. The setting is created so that you can shape your holiday at your own pace. Whether you stay in your own caravan, motorhome, tent, shelter, cabin or glamping tent, nature and tranquillity are at the center.

The site is manageable and cosy, and many of the pitches and cabins have views of the water or the open fields. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with space for families with children, three- and four-generation families, couples and guests travelling alone.

Experiences and excursions on Hjarnø

Hjarnø invites you to enjoy experiences at a calm pace, where most places can be reached on foot or by bike. The island is ideal for walks along the coast, on paths through the fields and for small breaks where you simply sit down and enjoy the view.

Island life is simple, yet filled with small experiences that you can adapt to the type of holiday you want. Even though the island is small, everything cannot be experienced in just one day.

Facilities and activities at Hjarnø Camping

At Hjarnø Camping you will find the facilities that make your stay easy and relaxed – without taking the focus away from nature. The island’s only shop is located at the campsite and also serves as the reception. Here you will find a good selection of essential groceries and ingredients for cooking, so you do not need to leave the island during your stay – as well as, of course, ice cream, sweets, beer, wine and soft drinks. Freshly baked breakfast bread (pre-order required) can be collected every day from 8 am.

At the campsite you will find, among other things:

•    Very nice service facilities with comfortable underfloor heating, communal kitchen and lounge area
•    Assembly hall with space for up to 150 people

•    Paddleboard rental – from 1 person and up to 8 people per board

There are activities for both children and adults, but nothing is mandatory. You decide whether the day should be active – or simply allowed to pass by quietly.
